Those newbies in SEO might be wondering why all the fuss over dofollow links and nofollow links. It is time to clear up all confusion regarding those.
Power of backlinks:
We know how important link building is in SEO. Google considers the backlinks from other websites for ranking our website. The backlinks are of two types – Dofollow and Nofollow. As the name suggests, Nofollow link attributes do not allow search engine crawler to follow the link. That means if the webmaster is linking back to you with Nofollow attributes, it does not pass on link juice. Dofollow links, on the other hand, allow Google to follow them and reach our website providing us with link juice. All links are Dofollow links unless they are modified manually to be Nofollow links.
What is link juice?
Link juice is nothing but is a term used in the SEO sphere to refer to the value or equity passed from one page or site to another. Simply put, it is the measure of how people consider the content and website. This value is passed through hyperlinks. Link juice helps in boosting the page rank of the linked-to sites thereby helping them go higher in the SERPs.
More on Dofollow and Nofollow links
“rel=Nofollow” exerts the hidden power of SEO. It is the piece of code that makes a link Nofollow. Dofollow links are links that count as points, pushing SEO link juice and boosting the Page Rank of the linked-to sites, helping them go higher in the SERPs.
In contrast, Nofollow links have a bit of code that asks search engines to not count them as votes of quality, thus weightage of such links are really less. Only people can follow these links. They don’t help you to boost Page Rank, website rankings and have no SEO value. They are intended to prevent spamdexing
Hope all confusion is over. See you again next week with a new topic!
